Valderiz is a red wine made by Bodegas y Viñedos Valderiz in the small town of Roa de Duero, under DO Ribera del Duero. It is a single-varietal wine made from Tinta del País, the most representative variety of Ribera del Duero. The grapes come from trellised vineyards over 25 years old, farmed according to organic principles, with no herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilisers. Valderiz aims to express the fruit, the vineyard and nature, which is why its winemaking involves very little intervention, without heavy extraction and without yeasts from outside the grapes themselves. Half of the wine ferments in steel tanks and the other half in barrel. Valderiz is then aged for 20 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels, 60% of them new and the rest previously used for one wine. A very expressive Tinta del País, grown organically, that seeks to convey the character and nature of Ribera del Duero.
