Mauro is a red wine from VT Castilla y León made by Bodegas Mauro. Bodegas Mauro is the personal project of winemaker Mariano García, known for having been technical director of Vega Sicilia for 30 years and now for making red wines of exceptional quality in Tudela de Duero (Valladolid). Little by little, Bodegas Mauro and Mariano García have become the great benchmarks of VT Castilla y León. Mauro is made from Tempranillo with a small percentage of Syrah. The grapes come from the Tudela de Duero and Traspinedo estates, whose light, well-drained soils have a balanced texture, limestone or clay-limestone depending on the plot. After meticulous selection, the grapes are placed in different tanks according to variety, estate and growing area. Conventional vinification follows, after which Mauro is aged for 16 months in barriques of French Allier and Nevers oak and American oak with different toast levels. Power combined with balance and elegance defines Mauro, which year after year has won the praise of the critics.
