On the nose it unfolds a fascinating intensity, with notes of ripe cherry and blackcurrant woven with subtle touches of French oak and liquorice. On the palate it fills the mouth with a velvety flavour, highlighting ripe red fruit and a delicate toffee background that gives great complexity and length. Elegant and deep, it is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a red with character that is approachable and refined.

Out of Bassus Pinot Noir

Bassus Pinot Noir is a red wine from DO Utiel-Requena made by Bodegas Hispano-Suizas. The winery is in Requena (Valencia) and aims to be an alternative between commercial wines and signature wines. As the name suggests, Bassus Pinot Noir is made entirely from the French Pinot Noir grape. The grapes come from vineyards yielding 4,000 kg per hectare on limestone-clay soils. They are harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning and taken to the winery in 15 kg crates. There they macerate at 8°C for 4 days, after which the must ferments at 26°C for 15 days. Finally, Bassus Pinot Noir is aged for 10 months in French Allier oak barriques and lightly filtered before bottling.
